CHATEAU MONTELENA Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 Napa Valley In the glass our 2002 has a dark, inky-purple color, saturated to the edge. It has a pronounced aromatic bouquet of luxurious pure ripe fruit, cassis and earth. The wine’s diverse, complex and powerful flavor profile - with ripe cassis, blackberry, and black cherry flavors supported by hints of tar and earth - prove that the painstaking and slow process of partial row harvesting was well worth the effort. The tiny Cabernet berries yielded from the vineyard’s dry soils produced powerful yet silky tannins and a refreshing backbone of acidity which, combined with its bold structure and rich flavors, infused it with plenty of power to age for a long while. The wine is elegant, showy and polished, with plenty of body and plush ripeness. We think you can enjoy the powerful, vibrant fruit now by opening a few bottles, and then wait a couple years for the concentrated, distinctive Montelena character to evolve before opening the rest. |

CHATEAU MONTELENA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2003 Napa Valley The wine has very pronounced ripe jammy fruit aromas of plum and black currant that display the warmth of the vintage. Less obvious Cabernet tones of licorice and earthy complexity from the cool middle of the season lurk under the more obvious notes of fruit. On entry this Cabernet is very round and full, while the mid-palate yields a graceful weight and balance with soft tannins. Notes of pepper add complexity to the smooth, rich cassis dominated flavors. |

CHATEAU MONTELENA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2006 Napa Valley Dark rich ruby in color, this wine offers rich, complex aromas of ripe dark cherry, sweet chocolate, cinnamon, pie spice, and leather, with top notes of rose and forest floor. In the mouth this wine makes a full soft round entry, after which the acid builds nicely to make it very juicy and inviting. Loads of fine grain tannin completes the mouthfeel, with berry patch, fruit stand flavors dominating. Nice notes of clove and toasted oak round out the tremendous long finish that will keep you coming back for more. This is a very well balanced wine that will age well and pair beautifully with a wide array of foods. |
